Is it a “waste of time?”, “a necessity?”, “of no importance” in our day to day living?

Reading the signs of the times, can anyone not sense there is a “growing need, for spiritual directors among the people of God?”

What is happening in the world around us?  Unrest, turmoil, non-peace injustices and disrespect for one another; lack of recognition that we are all “brothers and sisters” of the same one CREATOR, GOD, who loves us into being and who desires nothing more than to continue to “gift us with life.” Yes, we cannot eradicate all the evil, but we can help to contribute towards peace, healing and wholeness by first practicing it with the people we encounter in our day-to-day relationships.

Last November 2006, in a workshop [Tending the Holy] organized by Life Direction Team and facilitated by Sr Mary Ann Scofield, RSM she repeatedly quoted, “ There is a spiritual renaissance sweeping the world. Most people feel it: some deride it, many embrace it, and no one can stop it”

SEEKING SPIRITUAL DIRECTION

Those who are at terms with religious practices, as well as those who feel that more can happen in their spiritual lives seek spiritual direction. They seek and long for a closer union with God.

It is not a problem-solving situation, although life’s struggles will continually arise.

It is through facilitating growth in relationship with God that allows people to RECOGNIZE God’s self-communication in their payer and in their life.

It is NOTICING interior reactions to this self-revelation, to share reactions with God, so that we can respond to God more fully in our relationship with Him, with others and with ourselves.
